Mattamy Homes Testimonial

Mattamy Homes Testimonial

Our team at Arizona Wholesale just LOVES getting testimonials from our customers. This testimonial is a little different. It's a testimonial from a new home buyer at one of our valued home builder customers, Mattamy Homes. We're delighted to supply Mattamy Homes with a great selection of Whirlpool and KitchenAid appliances, and to also represent Mattamy Homes through our unique Design Center center services. Here's what this home buyer had to say about their purchase experience:

I don’t often write letters of appreciation, but wanted to let corporate know how nice it is to meet such wonderful people who work for Mattamy…….from Lynn Lott and Mike Collins, to Mary Kay the design consultant, all the way to Paul and Bryan, the “builders”……………….you can tell immediately that the Mattamy organization is “picky” about hiring these folks …………….EVERY ONE we have come in contact with has been nothing but gracious………….and you have no idea how much that means on the consumer end of the deal…………………………I hate to say it, but customer service in every industry is at an all time low, and your people here in Tucson are certainly the exception……………….to the person, they have been accommodating, friendly, eager to answer the myrid of questions, etc. etc. Even the sub- contractors are so nice………when you do a drive-by they all wave, and seem so happy and enthusiastic about their jobs!

Kudos to all the Mattamy folks in Tucson, and the Arizona Wholesale team members who helped these customers along with their home buying experience.

If you're one of our builder customers, contractor, remodeler, designer, or end user home owner email us a note, and attach a photo if possible. You may be the next happy buyer featured here!

Tips for Selecting Appliances

Appliance Help for New Homebuyers

Arizona Wholesale Supply is Arizona's Leading Builder Distributor

Appliance-Package

New homebuyers have to make a lot of choices when selecting all the finishes, and products that go into their dream home. Fortunately, production home builders preselect options and upgrades that are suitable for their homes. Even so, making appliance selections can be very challenging. Here are a few tips in choosing appliances:

  1. Narrow the field. If your builder has a list of models and packages that are available to you, part of your work is already done. Don't waste time looking at brands or models that aren't available for the home you are purchasing. Even If you are building a custom home, there will still be some constraints based on the size of your kitchen, location of gas, water, and electric lines, etc.

  2. Budget and plan accordingly. If it's been a number of years since you purchased major appliances, get prepared for some sticker shock. Today's appliances will save money on energy usage, and still are a very good buy when factoring inflation over the years. However, when you want a built-in refrigerator, combo ovens, and other premium appliances such as wine storage units, built-in warming drawers, steam ovens and coffee makers, you're going well into 5 figures ($XX,XXX.XX).

  3. Consider brands. At Arizona Wholesale Supply, we carry the popular priced major production brands GE, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire (Electrolux). We also are your supplier for upscale brands, such as GE Profile, Electrolux, KitchenAid, and Bosch, as well as a host of luxury brands such as Jenn-Air, Monogram, Viking, SubZero-Wolf, Thermador, Miele and many more. Most production home builders offer selections from only a single brand or two, and even semi-custom builders usually stick with a few preferred brands. For that matter, new home buyers tend to pick most or all their appliances from a single brand that they prefer. It not only narrows choices to products that the buyer is going to be comfortable with, appliance brands tend to have matching handles, knobs, etc.

  4. Work with a professional. Arizona Wholesale Supply consultants have many years experience with home builders, designers, and new home buyers. If your builder or design professional is one of the many that we supply, you can make an appointment at one of our locations to select your appliances.

Arizona Wholesale Supply is a family owned company, based right here in Arizona, and we've been at this for over 70 years.

Choosing a cooktop for your kitchen

Cooktops abound at Arizona Wholesale Supply

If you are remodeling or building new, one of the kitchen choices you may have is separate cooktop and oven configurations vs. a freestanding or slide-in range which combines the cooking surface and oven into a single appliance. If you choose a cooktop and oven layout, you'll have myriad cooktop options in size, fuel type, brands and venting.

Sizes

In general cooktops are made in 24″, 30″, 36″, 48″, and 60″ width usually designed to fit in a 24″ deep base cabinet or island. A 24″ wide cooktop is compact; something you might expect to find in a studio apartment for example. A 30″ 4 element/burner cooktop is a common cooktop size for most starter homes. It gives the homeowner the same size cooking surface, typically 4 gas burners or electric elements, that they'll find on standard size ranges.

Gas Cooktop

30 Gas Cooktop

For additional burners or a griddle, you're probably going to want at least a 36″ cooktop. Make sure to let your designer know early in the process in order to accommodate the larger cooktop width.

For heavy duty cooking, or special needs such as deep fryers or grills, you may elect for even a larger cooktop 42″, 48″, or even 60″. Of course, modular units can be assembled in a variety of widths.

Fuel Types

Gas burners or electric elements represent the vast majority of all cooktops. Gas will be natural gas or in some cases, propane. Standard electric elements are coil, though they are increasingly becoming rare, or glass smooth top where the element is underneath the glass. Induction cooktops have been around for a while, and are becoming very popular.

Induction cooktops use a magnetic force to create heat. They generate heat very quickly, and much like gas, induction reaches full power and turns off quickly. Of course, induction has the advantage of no flame.

  3. Electric radiant
  4. Induction
  5. Hybrid

Flexibility – Modular and Downdraft

Wolf-Modules

Separate Wolf Modules

Customers may also want some flexibility in a cooktop surface. For this, they may choose individual specialized cooktops, or cooktop bases with optional modules. For example, with Wolf cooktops you may wish to purchase an array of different individual cooktops an place them side-by-side.

Jenn-Air-Downdraft

Jenn-Air 3 Cartridge Downdraft

Jenn-Air offers downdraft cooktops in a modular configuration so that you can quickly replace modules depending on your cooking needs.

Though we've covered a lot of options here, there's more, much more that you might wish to know about cooktops. Consult your designer or builder to get their advice, and of course the experts at Arizona Wholesale Supply are here to answer your questions any time.

PCBC 2015

What is the PCBC?

PCBC

Launched in 1959 as a small educational conference at the Sheraton Palace Hotel in San Francisco, PCBC is now an annual two-day conference, product display and business exchange and is open to anyone professionally involved in the building industry, including builders, developers, architects, remodelers, designers, contractors, dealers/distributors and suppliers/manufacturers.

Keynote-Speech

In the past, PCBC was an acronym for “Pacific Coast Builders Conference”. Over time the name became an inaccurate reflection of the audience, as the show now draws attendees from all over the United States, Canada, Mexico and more than 25 other countries. Today the show is known simply as PCBC.

PCBC alternates each year between San Francisco and San Diego and has been endorsed as the official show of Leading Builders of America (LBA), whose membership includes 21 of the largest publicly and privately held homebuilders in the nation.

This year the PCBC is being held in San Diego on June 24th and June 25th. Many builders and designers from Arizona attend the PCBC, and many manufacturers of products distributed by Arizona Wholesale Supply will be exhibiting at the PCBC.

PCBC-Exhibit-Floor

Energy Star Homes

Why Buy an Energy Star Home?

If you're in the market for a new home, there are a host of choices you'll need to make. Yup, it's way more than just location, location, location. One think you might want to consider is purchasing an Energy Star certified home.

What is an Energy Star Certified Home?

According to the folks at the EPA an ENERGY STAR certified new home will deliver:

“energy efficiency savings of up to 30 percent when compared to typical new homes”.

In order for a new home to earn the ENERGY STAR label it must undergo a process of inspections, testing, and verification in order to meet strict EPA requirements.

Benefits of Energy Star Home

Here are the benefits of an Energy Star Certified Home according to the Energy Star experts:

Better durability
More comfortable
Lower utility and maintenance costs

  • Homes earning the ENERGY STAR label use 20-30 percent less energy than typical new homes, and even more when compared to most resale homes on the market today.
  • Together, families who purchased homes earning the ENERGY STAR label save more than $350 million each year on their utility bills.
  • Should the time come to consider selling, the ENERGY STAR label will set the home apart as something better: a home of genuine quality, comfort, and efficiency.

Trends in Professional Style Appliances

Pro-Style Ranges in Standard Kitchens

Professional style ranges have been showing up in standard kitchens for several years now. Certainly, we’ve seen brands such as GE Café give a “pro” look to standard appliances with great success. But more than that, consumers are willing to jump ship when it comes to their standard range, opting for one of the high-end professional style brands for the added cooking power as well as the pro-look. Buyers seem to be not at all concerned with having matching appliances either by brand or style, and they don’t hesitate sticking a bulky pro-style range in with any overall kitchen style. In addition, they’re often unconcerned that the pro-style range will cost more than all of the rest of their standard appliances combined.

Builders, contractors, designers, and remodelers can be challenged with a non-standard depth, special ventilation needs, and other custom changes that might be required. Nevertheless, these pro-style non-standard ranges are in enough demand that the industry is adapting to buyers requests.

The good news is that trade professionals, can rely on Arizona Wholesale Supply to guide them through the maze of pro-range choices. Here are two examples of luxury brands that specialize in ranges with a professional look and features.

Thermador-Range

Thermador’s new Pro Harmony 30″ range above is touted as the only 5-burner 30″ Pro-Style range in the luxury category. This range is likely to cost $4000 – $5000 when it debuts later this year.

Italian manufacturer Bertazzoni below is making a mark with their 30″ Pro-Style range that retails for as low as $2599. That’s a very competitive price for a range in this category. Bertazzoni is also known for offering their ranges in a choice of brilliant colors in addition to the common stainless steel finish.

Designers, builders, contractors, and remodelers wishing to explore opportunities in the pro-style range category are welcome to consult with the professionals at Arizona Wholesale Supply for more detailed information.
