Pet Stain Removal

If you own pets then you know that accidents can happen at any time. While they can be difficult to deal with it’s important to know how to clean up these accidents properly based on what type of floor it occurred on to ensure the longest life!

It is imperative that you clean up your pet’s mess as soon as you notice it so that it imparts minimal damage to your floor. Next it is time to figure out what cleaning method to use based on what type of floor you need to treat.

First up, we will tackle an accident that you have to clean out of your carpet. Carpets can be tricky with pet stains because it can absorb the odor and stain and sometimes this makes it harder to remove the stain. You will want to remove any solid waste first if there is any and then you can blot the affected area. Next you will want to use carpet cleaner to clean the area. Be sure to remove excess cleaner and rinse the area with warm water so that it doesn’t collect soil. To find the perfect carpet cleaner for you, reference this site for carpet stains.  Also remember to refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning.

Hardwood floors that have been finished and sealed can be cleaned up with paper towels and regular cleaner to remove any liquids and solids there may be. Be sure to not use harsh chemicals so that you do not damage the finish.

Ceramic tile floors are easy to clean too. Simply remove any of the excess liquid and solid mess and then use warm water to clean. Use a rag or micro-fiber mop and clean in a circular motion across the affected area. If there is staining in the grout you can use a toothbrush to scrub. After you have cleaned the area you can choose to use a mild cleaner to disinfect, but be sure to use a cleaner without bleach or ammonia as this can damage your floor.

These are different ways of protecting the life of your flooring and making sure to promptly clean any pet stains as soon as possible is the best way to do this. Let us know what cleaning tips and tricks you’ve learned yourself below!

A Guide for Man-Made or Synthetic Flooring Options

Educating yourself about the various options available for flooring in your home might seem like a daunting task. There are so many wonderful ways to create the perfect floor to coordinate with the overall design of a room or entire home. A smart way to go about it is to first learn the basic attributes of what makes each flooring type a smart choice. Use this guide to begin your research process. When you’ve narrowed it down to a few favorites, visit our store to learn more about each of them.

Porcelain or Ceramic Tile

Hard glazed squares made of porcelain or ceramic. This material has been well loved and used for a few centuries because it has so many valuable attributes. It is highly durable, strong, and stain resistant. It’s available in a wide variety of colors, and if it does happen to chip or crack it’s fairly easy to replace broken pieces. (This would be an unusual occurrence because of its durability.) It’s also quite easy to clean and sterilize. Learn all about tile in our Introduction to Tile.

Carpet

Carpet is made of either wool or synthetic materials. It is ideal for rooms where comfort is the number one priority. It can positively contribute to air quality by way of trapping some debris and pet dander until it can be vacuumed away. It insulates warmth well during seasonably cold weather, and it also serves to help reduce loud sounds and noise. If you would like to learn more about this, visit our Introduction to Carpet!

Engineered Wood

Engineered (aka composite wood) is manufactured by a veneer layer of hardwood overtop of several wood layers beneath. A big benefit of this material is that it can be installed fast, making it ideal for time-crunched projects. It’s easily installed over subflooring, including padding or concrete. In addition to other areas in the house, it works quite well in basements and below grade spaces because it is quite resistant to the effects of moisture. Learn more about Engineered Wood on our website.

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile)

LVT is a synthetic polymer flooring material that is very budget friendly. It can be glued or nailed over subflooring, and it’s easy to install. It’s easy to clean and water resistant, while also being durable and flexible. Visit our Introduction to Vinyl to learn more!

How To Remove Butter From Carpet!

Butter—we all use it in our day-to-day cooking and eating and because we do, we are more prone to spills that result in these types of stains on our carpets. Just last week we shared a recipe for a Parmesan fig grilled cheese sandwich where butter is used. If this sandwich were to fall out of your child’s hands onto your pristine carpet there are steps you can take to prevent that stain from becoming permanent!

The first step is recognize the spill and act quickly. The sooner work beings on the stain, the more likely it is to come out completely. First remove the solid and semi-solid portions of the spill with the side of a spoon.  Gently blot the remaining spill with white paper towels. Do not rub – this could spread the stain farther and could damage the carpet.

Next use a spot remover, but before applying be sure to spot test this on an inconspicuous area of your rug to make sure it doesn’t have any adverse effect. Once the spot remover has been tested, use the spot remover on a white cloth or paper towel and gently blot from the outermost areas of the stain inward.

For the spot remover, use a combination of ¼ teaspoon liquid dish washing detergent to 1 cup warm water.  Don’t use a stronger concentration – it won’t help the stain any faster!  Make sure to use only liquid dish washing detergent, rather than automatic dish detergent (the kind used inside of a dish washer) or laundry detergent.  These will not help the stain and could damage the carpet.

Once the stain remover is applied to the entire affected area let the spot remover be absorbed and continue blotting. This may need to be repeated by applying spot remover several times before the spot is completely removed.  However, use only the amount of spot remover needed.  More is not necessarily better!

After the stain is completely removed, use cold water to rinse it clean. Use a dry, white cloth to then blot the area dry. Finally, rinse the area that was cleaned with lukewarm water to make sure all trace of the cleaning solution has been completely removed. If any residue of the cleaning solution is left it may cause the area to gather soil faster than normal. Be sure to clean from the outermost areas inward to reduce the chance of spreading anything.

Appliance Delivery from Arizona Wholesale Supply

Your Home Delivery Installation and Service

Floor Covering and Major Appliances from Arizona Wholesale Supply

Arizona Wholesale Truck

I know a little bit about the great appliances at Arizona Wholesale Supply because I sold appliances myself for a number of years. I also know the great sales people at Arizona Wholesale Supply because of my longstanding association with them. But, today I'm writing as a customer about the Arizona Wholesale Supply delivery and installation experience.

I recently embarked on a major remodeling project and purchased all new carpet, new tile, and new appliances from AZ Wholesale. Whether it was the Shaw carpeting and floor tile or the KitchenAid and Whirlpool appliances, each time a delivery was scheduled I received a phone call from the office advising me of the scheduled delivery and time frame. The day before, and again early on the morning of the delivery, I received calls confirming and updating the delivery time.

Deliverymen

Delmar Contreras and Antonino Gallardo, Arizona Wholesale Supply

The Arizona Wholesale Supply delivery truck arrived with my Whirlpool washer and dryer, and KitchenAid microwave/hood and refrigerator. Two neat and polite men wearing AZ Wholesale Supply shirts identified themselves and came in to take a look at the install locations. They quickly went about their business prepping the appliances; one man working on the washer and dryer – the other taking care of the microwave/hood and refrigerator. The washer was installed first, giving the installer time to run the washer through a short cycle while completing the rest of the installation. Therefore, he knew that the washer worked, and there were no leaks. Meanwhile, the other installer had installed and vented the KitchenAid microwave hood combination. The men teamed up, and carefully wheeled in my KitchenAid refrigerator.

They removed the packing, tape, and film from each of the appliances, installed add-ons suh as the water filter, etc., connected all the water lines using high quality braided hoses, wiped down the appliances, and removed instructions and warranty cards placing them in an adjacent drawer. After completing the installs, they checked things over and gave us a brief explanation of how the appliances worked, thanked us, and were on their way.

Antonio Gallardo, Arizona Wholesale Supply

A couple weeks later, when I was ready for my KitchenAid double oven range and KitchenAid Superba dishwasher, a new installation team arrived, and I had a similar terrific experience. I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention the professional work of the carpet and tile installation team from Arizona Wholesale.

The delivery and installation folks at Arizona Wholesale Supply really know their stuff, and I really appreciated their courteous, professional demeanor. KUDOs to Arizona Wholesale Supply's delivery and installation service.

Remodeling Never Ends at Arizona Wholesale

New Appliances are Just the Beginning

Floor Covering, Window Treatments, Closet Systems, and More

Arizona Wholesale Supply is always updating.

With all the appliance manufacturers we represent it seems that there is always a new line of cooktops, ovens, refrigerators, or dishwashers being launched. That means tearing down one display or vignette of appliances to make room for another. On top of that, in addition to displaying the latest in Whirlpool, Electrolux, KitchenAid, Sub Zero, Viking, Jenn-Air, Thermador, Bosch, Maytag, Miele appliances and more, there are new brands hitting the market all the time.

AWS Brands

In addition to all these kitchen appliance brands, there are also many appliance related products that need to be displayed such as water softeners, RO systems, outdoor grills, pizza ovens, and others.

Of course, appliances are only one side of the business at Arizona Wholesale Supply. For many years Arizona Wholesale Supply Company has been a leading supplier of flooring products to home builders and contractors. And if there every was a dynamic business – it's floor covering. We've come a long way since the days of wall-to-wall carpet throughout the house. Buyers now must select from traditional tile and carpet to cork, bamboo, porcelain, engineered wood floors, and more. Brands include Armstrong, Mohawk, Dal-Tile, Mannington, Aladdin, Tuftex, Shaw, and others. So that means more samples in an ever increasing variety of colors and styles, and bigger showroom displays.

Flooring Showroom

Arizona Wholesale Supply Showroom

Now, Arizona Wholesale Supply also shows a variety of backsplashes, window treatments, shutters, and built-in closet organizers. In some cases, home builders have contracted to have Arizona Wholesale serve as a one stop selection center for homebuyers so that they can also pick their cabinet finishes, lighting, countertops, etc.

All of this means that some part of any one of the beautiful showrooms of Arizona Wholesale Supply (AWS) is likely to be under construction on any given day. At AWS, we carefully plan the projects to get in and out quickly, and with a minimum amount of disruption. Nevertheless, updating showrooms continues to be an ongoing process.

SO….excuse our dust as we work to create a beautiful environment for you to select the right products for YOUR new building project.

Call or visit the professionals at Arizona Wholesale Supply today for information on major appliances, flooring, window treatments and more.

Clean Your Carpet for the Holidays: Part 2

7553195_SThe final part of the process of cleaning your carpet actually happens after the
cleaning company leaves. You should make sure your carpet is dry within 24 hours
at the longest or you may run into mold problems.

During the summer, this is not hard – a few fans and leaving the windows open and
you’re done. The story is different in the winter. Cooler weather can
create challenges unless you take a strategic approach to drying.

To begin, turn your heat up a few degrees and change the fan on your thermostat
from auto to on. This will ventilate your home as you dry the carpet. Any other fans
that vent to the outside, such as your range and bathroom fans, can also be turned
on to help. You may want to open a few windows also if it’s not too cold.

The next step is turning on any ceiling fans and placing portable fans in corners
where air-flow is limited. If you rented a professional blower from your carpet
cleaner, move it around to catch the damp patches.

Check out any transitions from carpeting to hard surfaces. The leftover dampness
can make adjacent hard surface floors slippery. Remember also that your shoes are
wet on the bottom, and watch for slipping. If you have pets, cover any furniture in
danger from damp paws.

With these efforts, you should have a dry carpet in 12-18 hours. Then you can relax,
move your furniture back where it belongs, and start planning for the holidays!
