Bakke in 1945. The name was chosen because Sub-Zero freezers were the first to consistently hold temperature below zero degrees Fahrenheit, meeting quality standards for safety freezing food.

Sub-Zero made commercial products for local industries.

In the 1950’s Bud Bakke joins his father at Sub-Zero, and the first ever built-in refrigerator for the home was produced.

In the 1960’s and 1970’s Sub-Zero continued its focus on residential refrigeration products.

In the 1980’s Jim Bakke, Westye’s grandson and current President and CEO, joins the company.

In the 1980’s and 1990’s the 500 and 600 series are launched, introducing Dual Refrigeration, and later adaptive defrost and microprocessors.

In 1995 Sub-Zero introduced Integrated Refrigeration to the North American market.

In 1999 TRUE Wine Storage was released.

In March 2000 Wolf Gourmet joins the Sub-Zero family, and a 350,000 square foot manufacturing facility is built to product current and new designs.

In 2005 the PRO 48, an icon and design and quality, was introduced to the market.

In 2008 the Built-In Line replaces the 600 Series, showing the quality and innovation Sub-Zero is known for.

Today, Sub-Zero is still family owned and operated, made with the same quality and innovation, and manufactured in the United States.

Hi. I am looking for an under the counter wine cooler/refrigerator for my new remodeling project and hoping you can help me. Could you please give me some advice as to what I should be looking for as far as brands, features, etc.

Thanks!

Steve from Scottsdale

Answer:

Steve,

Conrats on your remodel project. Below are some questions you will want to be prepared to answer as well as some suggestion to start with. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like more specific info.

What type of front do you prefer? Stainless, glass, cabinet panel

What width are you looking for? i.e. 15″ or 24″

What types of wine will you store in the cooler? Red, white or both? How about champagne or cigars?

How many bottles would you like to store?

Some products you might like to consider:

Marvel® Luxury Series with MicroSentry™

Marvel has added exciting performance and design features to redefine the Luxury Series wine and beverage refrigerators. The new MicroSentry™ refrigeration monitor assures you that your wine is being stored at the proper temperature. A discreet LED display shows content temperature in real time and an audible/visual alarm signals if the door is left open or if the temperature goes above or below the set point for a period of time which may impact storage quality. The ultra-efficient compressor provides quiet, vibration-free operation. New design features such as a lighted, inclined display shelf, solid white maple trim, wine racks designed to hold all shapes of wine bottles and a clean, continuous toe kick join Marvel’s signature ebony interior to make an impressive wine cellar.

U-Line Wine Captain® Models put wine preservation in the zone of their own. Swing door models offer three temperature zones within one cabinet, while drawer models feature a customer designated two-zoned system. For more stylish storage, most Échelon models feature an elegant black interior while Origins models are punctuated by white interiors.
