Arizona Wholesale Scottsdale Cook-Off

Outdoor Grilling Event in Scottsdale

Eight Top Brands Cook for our Trade Customers

Before the heat really hits the Valley, Arizona Wholesale hosted their customers to a grilling cook-off. Some of the best grilling brands you can find, showed their stuff on the outdoor patio of Arizona Wholesale's Scottsdale showroom at The Design Center in Scottsdale. Take a look!

Hestan is a luxury grill brand that in just a few years has made a big mark in outdoor grilling. Luxury features include grill lighting that goes on and off when you open and close the hood. By the way, the hood is counterbalanced so that it will stay open in any position. Known also for their Napa Winery and a line of cookware, Hestan offers a broad array of stylish grills. Marty Sanchez, local appliance expert, shows his cooking skills on this built-in Hestan Grill.

One of my favorite grills, Dacor, pulled out all the stops for the Cook-Off by bringing their Dacor Grills on Wheels to the event. They've outfitted a trailer with Dacor Grills that they take to events to cook up some special treats.

Caliber Appliances, another California-based company, has a great variety of outdoor grills including this traditional grill that they used during the cook-off.

and this unique Rockwell Grill.

Going back to traditional grills, Wolf, one of the most famous indoor cooking brands, also has a great lineup of outdoor grills. Here they are at the Arizona Wholesale Cook-Off with one of their most popular models.

Do you like Pizza? How would you like to have your own outdoor Pizza Oven? Here are a couple of examples below:

This pizza oven from WoodStone is built-in to a brick console, and is outfitted with a granite countertop and under-counter refrigerator.

Here's a portable outdoor pizza oven from Lynx. When you sell your house, you'll definitely want to take this with you!

Backyard Luncheon

Hosting a luncheon is the perfect way to transition into fall with one last get together with friends and family. It’s one last hurrah gathered around your patio furniture and a great way to casually enjoy your back yard. The best part of a luncheon is how easy it is to put together. Its casual nature means that you don’t have to fuss too much ahead of time trying to throw together the perfect get together.

One of the advantages to luncheons is that often times friends will have plans for their evenings over their weekends but lunch time tends to be free! Lunch is also a more casual time and this means it is more family friendly for the kiddos—another added bonus for those of you with friends who have children.

A few rules of thumb to follow when planning your luncheon—keep the lunch recipes light and easy. You’ll thank yourself when you have less work to do ahead of time and these types of recipes are usually preferred for lunch any way. Think of putting things together such as salads and light sandwiches. You might also consider some easy snacking such as chips and a couple of your favorite dips. These are especially nice because they setup and clean up tends to be a breeze making your life easier.

Try and plan ahead of time if you think any of your guests will be bringing their children. Get a few fun games together for the kids to play while you entertain your guests. Put together an easy lunch option for the children in case there is a particularly picky eater. Usually in those cases a simple peanut butter and jelly will suffice. Or if you have a grill, go ahead and get some hot dogs ready for them.

Finally, set the stage! You won’t want to go overboard here, luncheons are casual and with the natural light from hosting your event midday, as opposed to when it is dark out, means the landscape will work for you as your decorations. Use this your advantage and see just how easy throwing together a luncheon can be.

Cool, Refreshing, Healthy 4th of July Recipe

Enjoy the Fourth of July with Your Family

Arizona Wholesale Supply will be closed next Monday, July 4th so that our associates can enjoy the Holiday with their families. Here's a great recipe for your celebration on the Fourth from Chris Scheuer that I came across while browsing our supplier websites.

This recipe caught my eye because, I'd been thinking of grilling vegetables as part of our menu on the 4th. I love grilled vegetables. I keep them crunchy, but get some nice grill marks on them, and they make a really colorful, and flavorful addition to the protein of choice. In this recipe, hamburgers or hot dogs are replaced with chicken for a lighter, healthier approach:

Grilled Chicken Nicoise Salad

Makes 4-6 servings
For the chicken
1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon sugar
4 cups water

For the dressing
1 cup fresh basil leaves, tightly packed
Finely grated zest from 1 medium lemon
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 medium clove garlic, crushed
2 teaspoons anchovy paste
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup extra virgin olive oil

For the salad
1 pound small red potatoes, cut in bite-size pieces
3/4 pound long, thin green beans
3/4 cup Nicoise or Kalamata olives, drained
4 medium Roma tomatoes, halved, each half cut in quarters
4 large hard boiled eggs, peeled and halved
1 large head bib or butter lettuce, leaves separated, washed and spun dry

For the chicken, combine 4 cups cold water, 2 tablespoons kosher salt and 1 tablespoon sugar. Stir until the mixture is clear and all salt and sugar have been dissolved, about 30 seconds. Add the chicken and place in refrigerator for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours.

While the chicken is brining, make the dressing. Combine basil leaves, lemon zest and juice, garlic, anchovy paste, Dijon mustard, sugar, salt and pepper in the bowl of a blender or food processor. Blend/process till the basil is finely chopped. Slowly add the oil while continuing to blend/process. Stop when all the oil has been incorporated and the dressing is smooth. Transfer to a glass jar or container with a tight fitting lid. Set aside. Dressing can be made up to 24 hours in advance. Shake well before serving.

Place the potatoes in a medium-sized saucepan. Cover with water and add 2 teaspoons kosher salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a steady simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes or until potatoes are fork-tender. Drain well and transfer to a bowl. Drizzle lightly with extra virgin olive oil and toss to coat. Season lightly with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Set aside.

Place the beans in a gallon sized plastic zippered bag. Add 1 teaspoon of water and close bag, leaving a small opening for steam to escape. Place bag in microwave and cook on high power for 3 minutes or until beans are crisp and tender. Drain the beans and place in a bowl. Drizzle lightly with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle lightly with kosher salt. Toss to coat.

Preheat your Gas Grill to a medium-high heat.

At about the same time you start the grill, remove your chicken from refrigerator, drain and pat dry with paper towels. Drizzle the chicken lightly with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle lightly with kosher salt and generously with black pepper.

Brush and oil the grill grate of your grill. Arrange the chicken on the grates and grill for 3-4 minutes per side or until light golden brown and an instant thermometer registers 160˚F. Remove from the grill and drizzle with a bit more olive oil and tent with foil for 5 minutes. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

To serve, line individual plates or a large platter with lettuce leaves. Arrange the chicken, potatoes, green beans, and remaining salad ingredients over the lettuce. Serve with dressing on the side.

If you're in need of a new gas grill, whether built-in or freestanding, Arizona Wholesale Supply has a great selection of premium grills for you to check out. Call one of our three locations today to make an appointment with one of our consultants.

Caliber Grill Closed

Caliber Grill Closed

Created by the legendary David Rockwell and Caliber Range Corporation, this luxury grill has a canopy that rolls under the cabinet leaving an open table that can be accessed from any side. There’s really nothing to compare it with, but think along the lines of a communal gathering place around a grill.

It’s much more than a clever idea, however. At the Caliber Range Corporation, the same folks who founded DCS, are busy re-inventing outdoor grills with their exclusive CrossFlame™ system (see details below). The Caliber Grill features three 20,000btu CrossFlame™ burners.

CrossFlame™ Grill Burner

•Three 20,000BTU type 304 stainless steel Crossflame™ burners (patentpending) •Exclusive Crossflame™ radiant system (Trademark and Patent pending)
